Genre: YA Fantasy

Synopsis Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

Guys I just finished this 800 page hunk of a book and oh so much happened and so much didn’t happen and I’m so satisfied, everything was as you can imagine perfect, yet it’s bitter-sweet because I DON’T WANT IT TO END. I’ve never done a GIF review before, so I’m going to attempt one today because I’m lost for words and visuals will do a great job of capturing my feels.

Then everything went wrong and I was all tense like..

Then a revolution was underway and hope started gathering in my heart..

Armies were being gathered, love was being proclaimed and an epic humiliation occurred resulting in me looking like..

The everything went really dark and gory and deep leaving me

And then chaos broke out where people turned against each other and AHH

Things slowly started to look better

And they all lived happily ever after…

Any true Lunar Chronicles fanatic would’ve already picked up Winter by now but those who haven’t even read the first book Cinder DO IT NOW! Uhm how often do you come across an awesome sci-fi fairy tale retelling?

Cover To Cover | Cinder by Marissa Meyer

It is a very exciting time here at Infinity Reads.

Cover To Cover is basically an excuse for me to swoon over the many beautiful covers for the same book! At the end there’ll be a verdict as to which my favourite cover is.

What’s in it for you?

You get a visually pleasing post and get to decide your favourite edition of that book. Oh and as always you might just discover a new book to add to your reading list.

According to the title of this post. Today’s Cover To Cover is……Cinder by Marissa Meyer!

The original cover

Very symbolic with the iconic shoe and the prosthetic leg. I also love the font used.

The Spanish Edition

It’s simplistically beautiful. I mean the font isn’t too catchy and the background is just black. But that dress is so beautiful and again symbolic with the one shoe.

The Czech Edition

Isn’t this so interesting. I really like the cloudy effects in the background and the blue is pleasing too. The girl reminds me of some Anime instead of Cinder though.

The Portuguese Edition

Similar to the Spanish one. I like the colour scheme used for the girl but the blue just ruins it for me.

The Turkish Edition

This is so much more darker than the original. It’s also more intricate, I love the little Rose on the shoe.

Another Spanish Edition

The glass slipper is pretty but I prefer the red one nonetheless.

The Verdict

I’m tossing up between the original and the Turkish

I mean the Turkish one is edgier and darker but the original represents the story better. Which one would I pick up in a bookstore? The Turkish One

That is a wrap on the first ever Cover To Cover here on Infinity Reads. I hope you enjoyed seeing all the beautiful covers

What book do you wanna see a Cover To Cover on?

I saw Jessethereader do this tag on Youtube here  recently and it seemed fun so I’m gonna join the bandwagon and do the Book Courtship tag huzzah!

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?

Easy, Looking for Alaska Tenth Anniversary Edition. I read the book a few years back but I needed this one!

Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?

This is a hard one because writing is so quintessential to a good book. I’m gonna say The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfus

Isla and the Happily ever after by Stephanie Perkins

I don’t re-read. Wow the amount of times I’ve said that statement on this blog is ridiculous. But I guess I’ll never mind picking up Perks of Being a Wallflower.

And all the fangirls collectively sighed…

Mini Review | Fairest

Title: Fairest

Author: Marissa Meyer

Series: The Lunar Chronicles #0.5

Genre: YA Fantasy

Page count: 222

Synopsis this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

Ello Ello Everybody!

A sweet, short and simple mini review for you today about the new Lunar Chronicles Novella. I’ve reviewed the third book here before and I definitely recommend you to go pick this series up so we can all rave about it together yay!

Queen Levana’s story was dark. It was very interesting to see things from her point of view and realize that people aren’t necessarily born evil, that they’re not always the bully in the story but that circumstances have then made them into a bully, into evil. I guess that was the whole point of the story.

Levana has never known affection: from her parents and especially from her older sister, so no wonder in her search for true love and admiration she falls into peril and eventually ends up destroying herself and the people she loves.  She is so consumed by the idea of loving and being loved that she doesn’t take a moment to understand what the actual thing means. And that, was scary.

Power was also a very interesting concept in Fairest. I think when someone for instance Levana’s older sister uses her power to scar Levana it is obvious that when Levana is given the power to be Queen she becomes destructive and delusional and has psychological problems.

Other than that I really did like how the story was set on Luna (The Moon)  for a change and I absolutely freakingly cannot wait for Winter when we see even more of the Moon!

Oh and did I mention Fairest also features Baby Cinder, Baby Winter and Baby Jacin Clay? I literally got so excited there aha

Not into reading series? How do you like the sound of an emotionally powerful stand alone that has the most beautiful love story? You.Need.To.Read.This

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

book d

Dystopian Sci-Fi

This is one genre I never knew I could appreciate as much as I have. Packed with just the right amount of action, thrill and drama these novels create a healthy blend of future swag and some of the best characters. One of them is even becoming a movie!

Look out for mega movie mania in 2016 when this hits the cinemas:

For the series lovers I’ve picked out The Lunar Chronicles. This takes fairy tales to a whole new level. Some of your favorite princesses such as Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel return as Cyborgs, genius hackers and farm girls who deliver goods in hovercrafts. yep.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

I absolutely freakingly had to put this one in. This has been hands down one of my top ten this year. If you love a good plot twist you have got to get your hands on this book. It is seriously underrated I believe and we need to create more hype!

book d

My most unexpected favorite. I have read so many truly epic books this year and you need to join the band wagon. Don’t be intimidated. You just need to embrace the coolness.

When I say fantasy what is the first thing that comes to mind?

If you said Lord of the Rings we can’t be friends. Jks. But Game of Thrones. Some classic fantasy right there. You’ve probably watched the show but the books are more extensive and they’re just books. We all love books.

NOTE: There is an extremely pretty box set of Game of Thrones in Dymmocks Australia but I can’t seem to find it online. It has like the scenery of Westeros and it’s paperback. If anyone can find it online please let me know, I’ll give you virtual lollies. 🙂

book d

Adding onto the Game of Thrones. Fancy a history lesson in Westeros paired with amazing artwork?

book d

It just hit the shelves in October so you can be like one of the first and the coolest people to get it.

You can’t be a reader without having read at least one classic in your life. Well to ease your pain of reading ancient English I present to you these beautiful covers!

book d

I am a lunatic for abstract covers so these caught my eye immediately. There are hundreds of novels in these type of designs and for the purpose of looking pretty on your bookshelf I suggest you get them!

Must have

Of course I can’t write a recommendation post without giving a shoutout to my favorite author. Queue the John Green feels.

book d

This box set is like the best thing you could get or give someone for Christmas. The ultimate John Green set has most of his novels: The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines and Looking for Alaska

There you have it! Only the best gift recommendations from Infinityreads. I hope this helps you choose presents for yourself or others and I sure hope you have a very Merry Christmas 🙂
