Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus Book Tag

I recently saw this tag on Inspired by Literature‘s blog (go show it some love, it’s amzeballs) and since my Blood of Olympus posts are rather popular I decided to treat myself and all the PJ fans by doing this tag!

1. Your fatal flaw when it comes to books

I never ever re-read and yes I realize that it’s stupid because you tend to change your perspective reading the same book multiple times but I just can’t okay. I feel like since I already know how the book’s gonna end I won’t get the same anticipatory satisfaction.

2. The Hestia on your bookshelves (A book you feel is under appreciated)

The whole Legend series by Marie Lu. I honestly feel like more people need to get into it since it’s actually so good.

3. Oh No! Hades is wearing his boo cap (A book that scared you)

I have yet to read a book that terrifies me. I really wanna get into The Enemy series because it’s got Zombies and apparently it’s shit scary so yay.

4. To the Zeus Cave! (your favorite spot to read)

My bed with all my fuzzy friends, super comfy!

5. A book you’d fall into Tartarus for to get your hands on

I would literally jump into hell’s fire to read Winds of Winter by George.R.R.Martin, I just cannot handle the wait!

6. Rick Riordan is the myth  sass master (The sassiest book you’ve read?)

Literally any book by Rick Riordan is the sassiest book I’ve ever read. After all he isn’t called the sass master for no reason ay?

Now some love for the series themselves

7.Who can absolutely not die?

One of the Seven are forbidden by me to cease existing. Also, Nico and Reyna, basically all the good guys, not Octavian though, he can die.

8. One event that HAS to happen?

How about a Demigod reunion? like ten years later with little Percabeths running around in New Rome AW AW

9. Favourite minor character?

I wanna say Reyna but I feel like she’s a pretty big character. I don;t see anyone as minor or major, I either like them or I don’t like them, if that makes sense?

10. Favourite book in the entire series?

If I absolutely freakingly had to choose, it would be Mark of Athena simply because it’s funny seeing people freak out over the cliffhanger. But I love them all equally otherwise.

11. Favourite and least favourite God? (be careful, you don’t want to be hit by lightning, or get turned in a dolphin or…)

None of the Gods faze me too much honestly, they all seem pretty selfish and try to trick their own children like come on be considerate for once will ya? But I do have to say Hades is pretty favourable. Typical of me to choose the underdog.

12. Your Godly parent?

I’d love it to be Bellona so I can be fierce like Ryena but we all know it’s gonna have to be Athena.

13. How important are the books to you and why?

These books are partly responsible for my love of reading so yeah they’re pretty important. I started reading them at the start of high school and they’re so relate-able and I grew up with them ye know.

14. A message to Uncle Rick?

When’s the next book coming out? XD nah. Just don’t forget to be awesome.

15. Tag at least five other demigods?

Pretty sure there are more than five demigods in this world so if you’re reading this and you’re a demigod then do this tag! seriously. Leave your links in the comments so I can check your answers out!

Also I hit 100 followers on this blog! Do you what this means? it means TURN UP! no seriously though. I am so thankful and ecstatic that 100 blogs have clicked that follow button! To each and every one of you I send virtual bear hugs!

Best wishes

Blood of Olympus- SPOILERS discussion

This post will obviously contain spoilers concerning the Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan so read ahead at your own risk.

More than any other books in the series Blood of Olympus was more about character development than fighting which was awesome!

Instead of getting Percy and Annabeth all the time we see more of the other characters, I think this was so great because my judgement about some of them turned out to be completely wrong. A fresh perspective is always welcome in my eyes.

We go deeper than the underworld with Nico and them feels! his rage, his dark side, his struggle with his dad and finally him coming to terms with his sexuality, feeling secure and belonged at Camp Half Blood for once in his life created this affection for Nico i didn’t think was possible.

His relationship with Reyna was so unexpected but so good. I like that they lend strength to each other and don’t mind confiding. Their bond is what kept both going, to get that Athena Parthenos to Camp and like hell they did

Superwoman right here. In the previous books Reyna was just this annoying girl trying to steal Jason but boy was I wrong. She is an absolute powerhouse. I mean she’s so realistic and strong but she has her struggles like any other person. I highly respect strong female protagonist and Reyna’s going right on the list of my favorites.

As previously mentioned, Nico getting he to open up about her dad was just so powerful and added that extra badass to Reyna’s character. The scene with the hunter dude and the explosives and then Athena saves the day, that was so COOL and when Reyna just strides into the midst of the Greeks and Romans like she owns the house oh yeah!

You know how I said i judged some characters? well, Piper was one of them and I thought she was just some useless Love child. The amount that Piper developed in BoO was phenomenal. I mean I underestimated her strength.

In Rome when she just jumps in the middle of all these monsters to save Percy and Annabeth? crazy. Good crazy.

And then when she’s on the quest to get the Physician’s Cure and all the stuff about her trusting her instincts and going with her emotions. Mind.freaking.blown. Respect Piper respect

The ending

This is by far one of the best conclusions to a series, I am so overly satisfied with the ending, every question was answered, the prophecy was fulfilled and no one died (that was especially my favorite bit).

The Seven and their parents fighting together to defeat the giants was so badass and it made me cry because this was all ending, it is rather bittersweet.

Leo. Oh Leo, Let’s be honest, he was THE Hero in this. I mean talk about smart. Defeating Gaia, getting unexpectedly blown but coming back to life and finding an impossible island to get Calypso? woah there. It was so sneaky that we didn’t find out about this till the very end. The whole time I was like he can’t be dead right? what if though? no,stay optimistic.

And when Leo and Calypso fly away on Festus, I thought, i can’t wait to read the next chapter when all the Demigods find out Leo is alive. But the next page was the Glossary. I thought a new adventure was beginning!

But yeah, it’s an open ending. I mean did Leo go back to Camp or did him and Calypso elope?

What if 10  years later at the Demigods reunion he just randomly turned up?

Blood of Olympus- NO SPOILERS review

Author: Rick Riordan5b630-ukboo

Pages: 502

Seven heroic Demigods.

One final Quest

The greatest sacrifice yet

I’m honestly struggling with where to begin because there’s everything and nothing I want to talk about. The Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus series always are and will be my favorite books.

I grew up with these books and I promise you it’s not childish or anything. It’s like education but FUN, i mean isn’t that what we wish school would be?

The writing

Rick Riordan’s writing recipe goes something like: a dash of sarcasm accompanied by humor with the kicking flavors of an occasional cliff hanger and a roller coaster of emotions that leaves you questioning your life.

The story

Blood of Olympus like every other book by this genius author is an absolute page turner. Filled with adventure this book will take you through historic Pompeii, ancient ruins and the far corners of literature where the plot of the Odyssey will actually make sense for once.

Are we onto my favorite bit yet? YES WE ARE!

The characters

If you like making friends (who doesn’t) head over and read this book. No honestly, this book contains some of my best friends and I don’t even find that weird.

Ranging from teenagers with mighty strength and superpowers to Gods with funny personalities the Blood of Olympus sees characters old and new forming alliances to create this action packed story.

I mean these people might seem all high and mighty but they have depth and wisdom and struggling backgrounds but despite all this they manage to grow. Incorporating real world emotional struggle into a mythological world is the reason The Heroes of Olympus has become possibly my favorite books ever.

On a parting note, if you haven’t got the message already, you NEED to pick these books up.

It’s bittersweet because I got a satisfactory conclusion (more on that in the spoiler post) but I’m still sad to be separated from my best friends. I’ll miss looking forward to these books every year.
