Read-a-Thon

Bout of Books #12 WRAP UP

The week has whizzed by ending my first read-a-thon for 2015!

I can say I am quite satisfied as I didn’t set crazy unrealistic goals of reading like 10 000 pages or something and just enjoyed reading without worry for once.

Books Finished:

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas

Stay tuned for a review on this blog TOMORROW

Books nearly finished

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Just one of those books you need to really take it all in. I have about 50 pages to go.

Total Pages Read: 608

That number is quite an achievement for moi because I do think I’m quite a slow reader. GO ME

What I plan on reading next:

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

About time I reckon.

How did your reading go? I hope you’re off to a great start!

Bout of Books 12 Update #1

Three days into the read-a-thon and we’re going strong folks, well at least according to me.

Currently Reading:

Crown of Midnight by Sarah.J.Maas

It’s making me swoon but I feel like there is so much going on and I’m reading it so fast it’s hard o keep track of all the sub plots. But we’re pushing through!

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

First non-fiction I’ve read in well,,,,a long time. A very powerful book that I have to slow down and take all the details in.

Something exciting that I did that you should you do:

The Imitation Game

A very intellectual and well performed movie about issues that concern modern society. Benedict Cumberbatch is in it so why wouldn’t you watch it? he’s gonna win an Oscar so you better head to the cinemas NOW

Total pages read: 314

How is your reading getting along?

Read-a-Thon

Booktube-a-thon FAIL

As you know for the past week I participated in the booktube-a-thon.

And this is how it went down

1) I slept through all the twitter sprints

twitter sprint= this allocated time on the booktube-a-thon twitter where everyone came together and read for this collective amount of time. This was a HUGE part of the booktube-a-thon trust me. And I slept through it all

What can i say I was on school break

2) I didn’t participate in ANY of the giveaway challenges

Mind you all of them seemed so much fun but I just couldn’t find the enthusiasm to do it. I was so out of it last week.

3) But I did read and that was the whole point of the booktube-a-thon right? to read as many books as you can

I read the following:
  • Half Bad by Sally Green
  • If I stay by Gayle Forman
  • Where she went by Gayle Forman

However, I failed to finish my fourth book, Death note vol.1. Never read Manga before and it so much longer than I thought like a 100 chapters long. Is that normal for Mangas?

So yea, there’s my great week of reading. How was your week? I hope you were in a more uplifted mood than I was.

Goodbye 🙂

booktube-a-thon TBR

Hello again internet friends
From the title you might be thinking a Booktube-a-thon tbr? Didn’t you just post a read-a-thon tbr yesterday?
To which I might say yes
SURPRISE SURPRISE! In the month of July I am going to be participating in TWO read-a-thons, you heard me.
A Booktube-a-thon is basically hosted by the book community on Youtube. More information here

So there are challenges to be attempted in this read-a-thon and I aspire to conquer all of them (at least most of them)

Challenge #1: Read a book with pictures
Chosen book: Death Note Vol.1

600full-death-note-volume-1-cover
This is a manga if you weren’t aware and judging from what I’ve heard this appears to be a rather popular manga. I haven’t read a Manga EVER (shame) and my knowledge of Graphic novels is limited so I’m excited to venture into this unknown territory.

Challenge #2: Start and finish a series
Chosen book: If I stay and Where she went by Gale Forman

ifistaywhereshewent
This is a duology and I saw the trailer for the movie which is coming out soon, it seems pretty cool so I decided to seize the opportunity and read this series.
The trailer:

Challenge #3: Read a book with red on the cover
Chosen book: Half Bad by Sally Green

Apparently this book became a pretty big deal even before it came out in February and the sequel is already scheduled to release next year so I’m gonna jump on the bandwagon and see for myself what all the hype is about. All I know is that this book includes witches and paranormal stuff.

Challenge #4: Read a book from the genre you’ve read least this year
Chosen book: Death Note vol.1 (again)

600full-death-note-volume-1-cover
This booktube-a-thon allows you to fulfil two challenges using one book (if that makes any sense). Since I’ve read NO Manga books ever it seems obvious that I’d use Death Note to also complete this challenge.

Challenge #5: A book to movie adaptation
Chosen book: If I stay

If-I-Stay-cover
Remember how I mentioned just then that it was being turned into a movie? Well then it counts for this challenge I guess. Except I won’t be able to watch the adaptation until a few months. We’ll just have to wait I guess.

Challenge #6: Read seven books

Ok so technically I am reading seven books because 4 for this one and 3 books for the Wicked Wildfire read-a-thon.
Looks like I can conquer all the challenges after all! Personally it seems a bit far-fetched and I’m interested to see how I go but if I fail miserably then…at least I tried right? Right.

I will see you with a read-a-thon update
Goodbye 

Read-a-Thon

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon 10.0 WRAP UP!

Time flies huh?

A week has already gone by meaning the read-a-thon has finished!

I had a great time challenging myself to read more than one book in a week (which is a first by the way). And I am so excited to say I actually did pretty good considering school and other hurdles.

My goals for this read-a-thon were:

1. Finish The One by Kierra Cass

2. Finish Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

3. Start A Feast For Crows by George R.R.Martin

And guess what?

I met all them goals oh yes you heard me!

I am going to review The One soon so look out for that and continue reading A Feast For Crows.

I genuinely enjoyed participating in my first ever read-a-thon and look forward to many more.

keep smiling sunshines 🙂

Bout of Books 10.0 Read-a-Thon update #1

Yay the read-a-thon has begun (well it began on monday but meh)!

I have been reading my ass off. When I’m not reading I’m well…reading. Except for when I’m watching TV or doing schoolwork ugh school 😦

On with the update!

1. I have finished The One! Yes, finally. There will be a review coming soon, possibly after the read-a-thon is over where I shall discuss my ever extensive thoughts.

3138132 2. Feast for Crows

I did start the book but got distracted so I hope to continue on with it soon.

Pages read: 75

3. Jane Eyre

This book just seems to drag on but we can do this right? right.

Pages read: 77

One book down, two to go. I haven’t really progressed very much with the other two mainly because of my tendency to focus on one book at a time. I hope to update soon with another book read.

Have a nice day Sunshines 🙂

Read-a-Thon

Bout of Books 10.0 TBR

As my previous post mentioned, I am participating in the Bout of Book read-a-Thon. Below are some of the book I plan on reading during the Read-a-Thon.

1. The One by Kiera Cass

3138132This is the third book in The Selection series and it literally just came out and ahh I’m so excited!

2. Feast For Crows by George R.R.Martin

download  The fourth book in A Song of Ice and Fire series has me pumped. Now do know that I cannot possibly finish this book during the read-a-thon as it only goes for a week and this book is like 1000 pages long. But I do hope to get through a fine chunk of it, so good luck to me!

3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

download (1) I have been meaning to read this book since the start of the year but never got around to it and enough with the excuses! I am going to engulf in this book finally. Yea!

There you have it. My Read-a-Thon list for Bout of Books 10.0. I do have quiet a mixture of books in there, interesting to see how it goes. If you are participating in the Read-a-Thon do let me know in the comments what you plan on reading!

Have a nice day!
