5 TV Shows To Help You Procrastinate

So it has been a hot minute since anyone posted anything on here!

I blame life and uni

But since now I have tons of time I thought I would share some TV shows I’ve been catching up on to help pass the lonely hours without studying

Dear White People

So season 2 dropped like a month ago and this show is literally everything you need in your life! All I can say is that this season was a lot more proactive than the first one and the series as a whole deliberates on some very important and relevant issues

13 Reasons Why

I am sure you have all heard of this one but again season 2 has been out for a bit now and it’s time you get on it. My favourite season is still season 1 but this one was done brilliantly in the way that again it starts conversations

The Handmaid’s Tale

Okay so apparently everyone is coming out with a second season because guess what? season 2 is currently airing! This season is way more intense and confronting and I love the direction it is taking. I reviewed the first two episodes and might do a little mid season review if you guys would like that

The Sinner

So I’ve just started watching this one and heard some buzz here and there. It seems interesting so far and its only one season long with 8 episodes so can’t hurt hey?

Engrenages or Spiral

If you’re looking for a healthy series with about 6 seasons this one is it. It’s in French and focuses on the judicial system and crime. It’s like law and order but way more gory

Let me know if you have any show recommendations!

Top 10 Books of 2015

It’s that time of the year again where we look back and pay homage to all the books that left me feeling awed, curled up in a ball crying or wondering what next I would do with my life since I’d finished the book.

In no particular order here are Infinity Reads’ Top 10 Books of 2015

NOTE: The book titles link to my reviews if you’re interested

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Perhaps the first book I’ve ever read that tackled mental illness and got me interested into reading diversity.  All the Bright Places was beautiful in all the delicate ways it handled mental illness and created unforgettable characters. And there’s a movie happening!

Winter by Marissa Meyer

The epic conclusion to The Lunar Chronicles series. It was 800 pages of every emotion I could ever imagine from pride to joy to hatred.

Heir of Fire by Sarah.J.Maas

This book was, with lack of a better word to describe it, on fire. There was so much adrenaline and character development.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

Another unique book that explored issues such as blind faith and painted such a brutal world in all its goriness.

An Ember in The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

An epic fantasy read that was exotic, smart and a great start to what I believe will be an epic series.

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfield

Another unique book. Gosh 2015 was a year of trying new things wasn’t it. I highly enjoyed the concept of a book within a book and the supernatural elements were very cool.

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margarot Atwood

Okay I need to stop saying this. But this book was also very unique. It evokes thinking in the reader about issues such as feminism and oppression and women’s place in society.

Am I normal Yet? by Holly Bourne

A recent read this also tackled mental illness but in a more honest, down to Earth manner. The protagonist has one of the most distinct and memorable voices that I’ve ever heard.

The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

Of course it won’t be a top 10 without Uncle Rick making an appearance. Back with the same old witty humour, education on mythology and unforgettable characters The Sword of Summer is the beginning of one epicly funny series about Vikings.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah.J.Maas

Another epic book in the Throne of Glass series with all its plot twists, unique characters and fantastic elements.

What are some of your favourite reads of 2015?

Favourite Last Lines in Books

The way a book ends is of prime importance to me. You can be left feeling elated, like you’ve just received a fresh breath of air after diving in the pool, or you can be left feeling meh, we all have those “that’s it?” moments come on.

I’m here to discuss the last lines which have left me breathless or always bring a smile to my face whenever I flip to the end of the book.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott. Fitzgerald

I think this sums up the book perfectly but also promises new adventures and perseverance, I don’t know this quote always gives me the feeling of ‘life goes on’.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

This is so melancholic and those who’ve read the book would know how sad the book is. But I believe the ending of the book gives so much closure

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Okay so this is really sad but you know how the whole “I do” is significant of marriage? Maybe this is like Hazel’s promise to Augustus. Nonetheless, all the sad feels come flooding back in every time.

The Book Thief  by Markus Zusak

I could go into a whole analysis of this quote but it signifies that humans are always looking for suffering to the point where even death is haunted. And it’s such a thought provoking way to end the book. I love Markus Zusak!

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfus

Okay technically, the last line would be “It was the patient, cut-flower sound of a man who is waiting to die”, which in itself is a sad and haunting last line. But here’s the deal, the author uses the above epilogue as a prologue. And it works! I’ve never seen anyone do that before and it’s so interesting.

NOTE: All pictures taken from Google images, they’re not mine!

Are there any famous last lines you can think of ?
