November is fast approaching and it is National Novel Writing Month!

Basically NANOWRIMO is this website where you attempt to write a 50 000 word novel in one month and I had this epiphany while watching Catriona’s video (shes’s awesome btw) that I should write a novel in a month!

I’ve never finished any of my stories partly because of my commitment issues and partly because…because.

You’re probably wondering what the point of this post is, well I just wanted to let you know that I’M DOING NANOWRIMO and that YOU SHOULD DO IT TOO

Seriously just have a go and you can win prizes how awesome is that? join the partay

This would be the perfect time to commit because you still have time to prep. Here are some things I have found helpful so far in preparation  for NANOWRIMO. This is my first time doing this so I’m in no way an expert at this.

1. The snowflake method aka the holy grail of NANOWRIMO, honestly this is extremely reliable in mapping out the frame of your novel so when November rolls around all you have to literally do is type out your novel like a robot.

2. the aforementioned Catriona also did this video about prep and she is way more experienced than I am for sure.

3. Have a notebook or note taking device nearby- you never know when inspiration strikes and you must be prepared because trust me you’ll forget about it later.

4. Read over your story summary EVERDAY, I’m assuming if you follow the Snowflake method you’d have created a summary and having your plot fresh in your mind will mean you won’t get stuck during Nanowrimo.

I hope I’ve persuaded you to join NANOWRIMO and hopefully these tips have come in handy. I will be posting weekly updates as my novel progresses so look out for that coconuts!
